Hey everyone. My name is Steve and I'm in VA. I've always loved BBQ since having family cookouts as a kid. I've been doing my own bbq'ing since '01 and enjoy it the more I've learned. At one point during that time, I thought I had some pretty decent skills til I realized that lighter fluid sucks as an igniter, and my food wasn't the best. I actually gave up on making (or trying to make) anything outside of burgers, dogs, fish, and the other usual stuff a newbie knows, until around a year or so ago. I started checking out several channels on YouTube, and experimenting with different cuts of meat, as well as learning temp control and all I can say is, I wish I learned it earlier lol. I currently cook on a Char-Griller Smoking Pro, but plan on upgrading soon. I found this site some time back by just doing a search for BBQ related forums. Looking forward to continuing to learn, and share with everyone.

from DelaWhere! No worries, everyone here has got your back!
Yup lighter fluid sux. A charcoal chimney and a can of Sterno under it to light the coals. Once you see the flames coming up, move the chimney off the Sterno, and recap the Sterno for the next use. Works great.
Drinks well with others
