  • Tri Tip Adventure #1 in 3 - 2 - 1 ....

Okay Tri Tip Adventure #1 started like this....

I never figured there would be 8 of them there Tri Tips in that cryo bag....
I had to break out the food saver in a hurry to clean up this problem. It is a good problem to have.

Fired off a chimney of Stubbs briquettes while and dusted one of those bad boys with Montreal Steak. Throw it on the weber in-direct heat. (sorry no pics) and started getting the other Tri Tips ready for a freezer nap.

well it had been a while and i figured i would check the temp of the one on the grill...
I could not find my instant read thermometer .... okay dont panic just grab a battery operated thermometer and get a temp all will be okay.... not a single temp probe in the house would work

Okay this aint my first freaking cookout, improvise, adapt and overcome....

cooked mostly by touch and smell and i did over cook that bad boy i think it is a solid medium instead of a medium rare

    Sliced for sammies

It was late so i microwaved a bag of broccoli and cheese and fixed a small plate

i was hungry and it was good the only thing a would change is getting it off the grill a few mins earlier

    Thanks for looking
    God Bless

Eight?! Holy bleep! Proper temps and slicing helps. Have seven more for practice. Lol.

It isn't med rare but it doesn't look dried out either. I bet it still ate real well. You have 7 more chances to get it right!

You are right it wasnt medium rare but it wasnt medium either. still very juicy and the center was pink. very good flavor.

As far as slicing it is a lot like the brisket and slicing across the grain.

I cant wait to do it again

I love buying those cryo vac bags full of Tri Tips at Costco. They are a bit spendy but the money you save per pound to buy them in bulk is worth it for me. It may be a little bit over cooked buy it looks juicy as heck. I'll take a juicy medium piece of meat over a rare tough one any day.
