Did some halibut a little bit back, but dropped the ball as far as pics went, only got two. FAixed it with butter, citrus and dill seasoning, some Old Bay, black pepper, and fresh basil.
I cold smoked it with Apple in the A-Maze-N tube for 45 minutes or so, then fired up the Yoder for just long enough for it to be done:
Turned out really nice; seemed like the cold smoke added some nice light flavor. Thanks for looking.
Nice looking fish, grilled, smoked, blackened, baked it's all good here.

I was wondering if anyone has smoked Halibut here. I caught this bad boy off the coast of Port Hardy, B.C. last year and still have about 10 lbs of filets left in the freezer.
Halibut filets are white, but the paprika may account for the red color in the pics. How well did it smoke? Im a little gun shy of putting a filet on the smoker w/o some pointers from the fish smoking experts here. They be pricey in the stores and I wouldnt want to pitch an expensive filet out of incompetence.

Of all the things I've ever lost, I miss my mind the most!
I've smoked Halibut in the past, been a few years, but it was great!
Treated it just like salmon, wet brine & Bear's would probably work really well. I jacked up the brown sugar in mine cause I wanted it sweet. Smoked with Alder. It can dry oot on ya pretty easy, so watch it closely.
I've never tried this method, but my buddy says boiling Halibut 1"+- cubes in 7up is outstanding! Might save a couple chunks to try it
I have also heard about the 7-up gig but never took it too seriously.
Fish that good usually gets grilled, baked, broiled or fried. Simple is best. If I was going to smoke some halibut I would do it hot and fast.

If ya try any soda/cola/pop gig try and get the throwback or Mexican versions that use real sugar or cane sugar instead of High Fructose Corn Syrup.
That shit is beyond bad for you and not worth the risk of using for drinking or cooking with

I've done that on a couple of "white fleshed" fish. Then dip the chunks in melted butter, kinda like "Poor-man's Lobster". Awesome!!!
Thanks for reminding me!!!
