        He's kinda like my "anti-grandmother". She had no recipes nor explanations. Yet everything she cooked was fantastic. I never really considered myself any good until I could write a recipe. And I STILL don't do it near as often as I should. And I'm STILL trying to cook like that lady. Science and cooking are sooo closely related, yet one remains an art.

        Alton is kinda like a maker of "paint by numbers" masterpieces...

          I got one of his cook books, "I am just here for the food". It is very scientific, and explains the who, what, where, how and why of cooking.

            If yer into that, and heavier reading, Ry- get "On Food And Cooking" by Harold McGee. The dude's like Alton's teacher. I'm still reading it a few years later.
