allow me to recommend one of these,,,
the BBQ mounted factory thermometers are not generally accurate and Never show the actual temp at the grill grate the food is sitting on...

plus you can monitor your meats internal temps with great precision
    and cook to perfection...
    best money I ever spent...

                  Thank you! :)
This evening we gonna grill some burger and maybe chicken.

But I already know 2 things.
For the next brabecue attempt I will get a different brand of charcoal.
The one I used smelled horrible for a long time. I found some quality
coal made close to my home which I'll give a shot next time.

I also will get a better thermometer, but it seems the german
version of the Maverick has some major issues. So I might get one directly from
                  the states.

                  Greetings
                  Matze

                      Thank you :)
Next time I think I could pull the meat off the grill 15 minutes or so
                      earlier.
But it was fun :) It ain't much harder than cooking in the oven.
Just keeping the temperature is a little bit tricky. But I guess when the grill
is broken in some more that might stabilise?

                        Looks Great, Matze!!-----------

Nice color on that meat, inside & out !!!

I like to take my Lean Pork (Loin, Tenderloin, etc) to 150° also, because that way I know it all got to at least 145°.

                        You did a Beautiful Job!!!

:) Thank you! I was amazed how much flavor this little bit of smoke brought
                          to the meat.

That does make sense. When it comes to
pork and poultry I'm always careful.
Ha found a place here im Germany, where they sell Mavericks in the U.S.
version. 65€ is the same price so I'll go for it :)

So have to go grocery shopping now :):):)
And I sense there is some meat in my future ^^

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES BUY A MAVERICK - FROM EUROPE OR - EsPECIALLY - FROM THE STATES.
                              Basically they're nasty expensive junk.
And only carry a 90 day warranty, the one I had from the states just plain didn't work and had run out of warranty by the time I got it.

Keep an eye on Aldi - they do a wireless meat thermo which comes with the standard 3 year europaen warranty, and knocks spots off the maverick.
Hopefully they'll get it back in stock as the summer comes closer.
Last year they were around 20 euros.

The best wired thermos I've used - and some of mine have been in use for 5-6 years now, are these cheapo units from ikea: http://www.ikea.com/de/de/search/?qu...wecker+schwarz
I hate ikea - but these are brilliant little units

Work great, don't break the bank and the probes are water proof (well I always wash them in the sink) - not something anyone's ever said for maverick probes.

                              Just plain avoid maverick.

I am back.. wasn't as bad as one would think with an empty stomach^^
I got some nice ribs (2 for 4€), some ground beef ( 2lbs for 5€) and some
                                bratwurst.

Excited to see what the Maverick will be like.
