  • When your away from home and need to smoke...

Since the first of the year I've been working on the road back east and needless to say haven't been around home to use my cooking & smoking gear. Hence not too active on S-M lately.
So what to do?? I convinced a coworker to purchase a smoker - I was pleasantly surprised he bought a MES 30 without any input from me. We tried a venison meatloaf last weekend for the initial trial and it turned out darn good.

So, I told him about fatties and decided to roll one up and try it in the MES. Standard fattie with salami, pepperoni, onions and mozzarella. A bit rough rolling it in my hotel room 1/2 kitchen without having a full set of utensils (especially scissors). But I got it done. I didn't have any spices besides S&P in my room so I did use a Hickory Mesquite rub at his place. Then to his house for the smoking part.

Turned out darn good - I really like this MES unit - easy to use and straight forward. Never used one before and I see why a lot of people on here like them. I have pretty commandeered the smoker from him at this point! Being away from home is tough but at least I can smoke something now & then!

Thanks for looking (my buddy thinks it strange I take food pic's so I snap these when he's not looking )

Well hell, a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.

      The end result is money.

Lang 36 Patio, a few Webers, 2 Eggs, plenty of gadgets and a MES 40 Gen 2.5 electric for bacon and sausage.
My best asset however is the inspiration from the members on this forum.

YUM!! That looks like I could hit that hard!

Yes, it has become a factor round here to take pics of the food. If I show up at the table without me camera, they all think I'm losing it...

              Drinks well with others
