Vacuum sealer by far. But back in December I got an MTN 10" slicer off eBay which is just right for my homemade pastrami, bacon and such. Although I won't use it nearly as often as the sealer, I wouldn't consider getting any slicer for $125. Too small for anything useful.

If you buy a slicer then you Will need a vac packer .. I package all my linked sausage in freezer wrap ... Buck and quarter be lucky on a "good" used slicer .... Well this has already been said. Carry on

          +1 on kegerator. Otherwise sealer.

I have both, I use the sealer way more than the slicer. I have the Chef Pro slicer. If I had it to do again I would get one that has a clean drop through for what is being sliced. You cannot slide a pan or sheet of butcher paper under what you are slicing, it is blocked by the thickness plate or stop. It also does not tilt. But it does slice really nicely, it gets the job done way quicker than by hand. My next slicer will be a Globe or Hobart commercial.

I have both. For me, I use the vac sealer way more than the slicer. I always tend to smoke or grill more than we need for future use. Just seems to make sense as it takes as much time to smoke 1 butt as 2 for example.

However, you seem to favor the slicer as you'll use it more. As such, go for the most bang for the buck and get the slicer.

I looked at several slicers in the $125 and under range. Some have good reviews and not so good. Several come with the serrated blade which I don't want. Really don't want to spend another $30 for a smooth blade.
At this point I may actually use the vac sealer more. With that said I'll look at the vs master 110. It's the smallest one but should meet my needs.
Thanks to all for the info and for actually changing my mind.

No question - get a good sealer.

The slicer is great - particularly for home made fresh bread.

But the vac packer gets a lot more use.

you won't get a new slicer worth having for that money.

                          used maybe, but not new.

the vs 110 is that little chamber vac machine right ?
                          Yeah I'd get that

looking a the reviews you might have to stick the rbber seal down - bit other than that they seem very positive.

Hell it'll even seal warm soup !

I cook a lot of soups and gumbo's so that will come in handy. I've read the reviews and most are positive. Seems when sealing liquid there were several that said to partially freeze the liquid before sealing. But I'm guessing most vac sealers probably have trouble sealing liquid.
