well i been looking for good thermometer for awhile was going to buy a maverick et-73 heard alot of good things about them but i have heard some annoying things about them like the on/off behind the back cover and its wireless but sometimes may have issues going thru walls.....the new one has a 300ft range ....so i saw and bought one these from another bbq site and decided what the hell ..bought it and will review it when i get it ....doesnt came out until january so i see how it goes ...but here is a preview from bbq site doing a review....

The range claims are suspect..in that the manufacturers are only allowed a certain (400mW?) amount of output. There are mods you can do antenna-wise to help out if you have basic soldering skills.

Clear line of sight and only 1 wall between... you might very well get 300 foot. But then again- that's too damned far to go mop the ribs.

Got a link? Don't worry. You won't get banned.

I agree with Rich though. Line of sight, while easiest to measure, is sometimes not a very meaningful statistic. Most people need to know the range measured in the number of walls between their smoker and their bed. But at least you'll know you're good if you're sleeping in your neighbor's yard two doors down and there are no fences. Walls and certain building materials really knock the hell out of a wireless signal.

Sounds like it has a lot of other nice features though. Like the increased temp range.

Yep, I'd bet you'll be fine.

Assuming the walls aren't cinderblock or solid steel or something.
