We are in a rural area and the school board is very cognizant of the fact that a four year college may not be for everyone. Of course they do offer the A-G courses and the UC/CSU pathways but they also offer several vocational courses as well.

I don't really know much . . . okay, anything . . . about welding and welders etc or metal working but it seems like a nice shop. And it does have a plasma cutting table which is cool. Offers lots of flexibility when it comes to making mounting brackets and such or precisely cutting the RF plate narrower at one end so that when it lays in the bottom of the chamber it will have the correct slope. Just have to do the math right. Who knew geometry would be so useful.

            The ends are off.

Doesn't look too nasty on the inside.

It is officially 19.5 inside diameter so I will re-run the numbers and go from there.

What calculator are you using for this project?
I have seen calculators for an offset smoker but not for a reverse flow. My understanding is a reverse flow will have more even temps than an offset.
Building my own smoker is on my project list but 2 years or so away so I have time to gather.

This one for the main numbers.
                    http://www.smokerbuilder.com/pitcalc/

Pretty much the same as Feldon's.
                    http://www.feldoncentral.com/bbqcalculator.html

And some additional ones for FB to CC opening and reverse flow plate gap that are available here.
                    http://smokerbuilder.com/forums/app....ge/other-calcs

I also took the formulas off of Feldon's and put them in an Excel spreadsheet. My spreadsheet can calc everything but the throat opening. Try as I might to put the following formula into Excel, I could not get it to work.

With that I would have had everything in a single spreadsheet.

Nice build so far Dave. Are you going to cap those ends flat like the new Lang's
I would. Wishing you great success on your build and if you need anything just ask.

                      All the best.

Yes, the end caps will be flat.

                            Check out, Feldons smoker calculator.
I’ve built a small and large reverse flow using his calculator, and suggestions for a larger fire box. They both have excellent flow, and even heat.

What right triangle are you using the cosign of ?? You have to define what that is from in the circle.
"Trigonometry. In a right triangle, the cosine of an angle is the length of the adjacent side divided by the length of the hypotenuse."

In the formula, r = radius and h = height. So it is the cosine of (r-h)/h.

Here is a link to the calculator.
                                https://www.mathopenref.com/segmentareaht.html

Which works pretty much the same as the Throat Calculator for Cylindrical Tanks found on this page except that you can also calc the area if you are using a grease dam.
