  • It's my Dads birthday today, and he wanted ribs...

Called to wish my Dad a happy birthday this morning, and asked him if he wanted to go out somewhere for dinner, he said he'd rather have some ribs, no problem got some spares and trimmed them up, had to cut these in half to fit in the GOSM, I did one rack with MH, and the other was a sweeter rub by Paula Deen, provided by Crusty Ol Salt awhile back, thanks Crusty.

    Here's the rub recipe...

    Paula Dean Dry Rub
1 1/2 cups dark brown sugar
    1 1/4 cups sugar
    1/2 cup salt
    1/4 cup ground black pepper
    1/4 cup paprika

Here's the ones with the Paula Deen Rub...

    and the MH...

the sweet rub is good, but I still prefer a little more kick for me.

        UPDATE...

After spritzing the ribs with a mix of Apple Juice and Red Stag a few times, they were ready for foil, so I decided to try something different...

I wrapped them in foil added more rub a mix of apple juice and Red Stag, then I sliced up some apples added them on top and foiled, I'll see what happens...

        MH Spares...

Didn't take a pic of the Sweet Rub Spares

Interesting. I have put sliced apple on a pork butt before when foiling. Didn't seem to make a difference that I could tell anyway, but maybe with a smaller cut like ribs it will. Keep us posted with a MEGA UPDATE.
