Default Looking for strictly a sweet rub

My son and his gf are having a friendsgiving this weekend where he will be deep frying a turkey. He wants a sweet injection and a sweet rub. I think I'm good on the injection part, but I can't find anything with a sweet rub with no spice component. What I'm not sure about is how deep frying will react to sugar in the raw, which is what I usually use because of it's higher burn temp. I have some hony powder, but I think that would be even lower burn point.

Just looking for some ideas, mostly a sugar rub with some of your basic salt, gahlic, onion, etc. Any suggestions appreciated!

I have done 50% brown sugar and mhgp and it was sweet and very flavorful.

For a turkey... I am think of a Maple turkey that I have had from the deli counter.. It was finished with maple syrup and honey. just a thought...

My experience with frying turkey with rub is that the rub all ends up floatiny in the oil and little or none stay on the bird...
Stick with injecting and fry away...

I am of NO help. Other than you raised him better than that.

And ya can’t rub a fried bird. See Craig’s comment.

I have never fired one of those turkey birds so take everything i say here with a grain of salt.

I think the guys are correct with the rub on the exterior of the bird being boiled off.

That said if you rub under the skin, or between the skin and the meat you may find some success.

Here is a sweet rub that is use on poultry;

Good luck

My thoughts exactly. Maybe mix the rub with a bit of melted butter into a bit of a paste consistency, rubbed all under the skin.

Craiger is spot on! (Did I say that??) ya can't rub and fry and expect the rub to do anything but mess up your oil. It not gonna stick! Inject away!
