  • 2 tier grates

I've got a little project going on here. I'm going to add a home made second grate to my grill. I just dont know how far apart to do it. I want to be able to fit a large pork butt and st louis spares vertically. Something like this except that I'll be using 2 or 3 well positioned bolts to secure the grates.

How much space should I leave between grates so I can fit large pork butts? 4"?

St Looie spares? Man, I'd think you will want 6" anyhow...

Also..I'd go with 4 support rods. Easy way out... .25" 20 threaded rod.. cut to length. 16 nuts and fender washers.

      yeah 6-8.

Best way to gauge - measure the height of a decent sized chicken. Butts can always be squashed down. But long as you can get a big chicken in there you should have enough room for pretty much everything else as well
