Default Baked Beans

I am looking for a recipe for baked beans. I am not familiar with the forum and have not located what I am looking for. Could someone point me in the right direction.

Capt Dan will be here in the AM..he makes some of the best I ever had. I will let him know yar looking...

A tip...do a pork butt with them, and place the pan UNDER the butt in the smoker after the the butt starts browning :{)

Here's Dutch's Wicked Baked Beans...

WICKED BAKED BEANS
(Beans that will even make Chili Heads happy)

6-8 strips of bacon cut into 1/2 inch squares
1/2 Medium onion, diced
1/2 Bell pepper, diced
1 - 2 Jalapeno Peppers, diced (seeding is optional)
1 - 55 ounce can Bush's Baked Beans
1-8 ounce can of pineapple chunks, drained
1 Cup Brown Sugar, packed
1 Cup ketchup
1/2 - 1 Tbs. dry (ground) mustard

Saute bacon pieces in fry pan until crispy and remove from pan with a slotted spoon. Saute onion, bell pepper and jalapeno pepper until tender.

In a large mixing bowl combine beans, pineapple, brown sugar, ketchup and dry mustard. Stir in bacon pieces and vegetables. Pour into a 12X9 or a deep 9X9 aluminum baking pan. (While mixing if things look dry, add additional ketchup 1/4 -1/2 cup at a time)

Place in a 220-250° smoker for 2 1/2 to 3 hours (make sure temperature of the baked beans reaches 160* ) or place in a 350* oven and bake for 1 hour.

NOTE: If you are making these beans as a side dish for Kansas City style pork ribs, smoke the removed skirt meat for 1-1 1/2 hours, then dice the skirt meat and stir into the Baked Beans.

DISCLAIMER

With the Jalapeno pepper and the dry mustard these beans have the potential for some MAJOR heat. CAUTION should be exercised when feeding these beans to small children and/or the elderly.

To make this recipe Family Friendly, omit the Jalapeno pepper and the dry mustard.

SMOKE IN THE HOLLAR BEANS (For approx. 60)

55 oz Bush’s Original Baked Beans
45 oz Red Beans with juice
30 oz Pinto beans drained
15 ½ oz Black beans with juice
¼ Cup Dark Brown Sugar
1 Tbs Garlic Powder
1 Tbs Onion Powder
2 Tbs Worechestershire Sauce
2 lbs Maple Bacon
¼ Cup Molasses

Mix together, simmer for at least 2 hours in a dutch oven.

I thin these er as good er better then dutch's, as anybody what et em at the Iowa gatherin. There might good!

Default E-Z Baked Beans

EAZY
Baked Beans


1 Lb. of Pulled Pork
1 Cup of ketchup
2 Tbls Soy or Dales sauce
1 Tbls garlic powder
1 tsp. vinegar
1 cup brown sugar
1 15oz can kidney beans drained
1 can of mushrooms
1 can (55oz) bushes baked beans


Combine all ingredients and mix, put in aluminum pan and in to your smoker, cook for as long as you can at least 4-5 hours, I leave mine in about 6 hours If your not smoking anything, and your in a hurry put em in a big pot and stove top em for an hour or two.

PS……… When there’s no small children or elders around I chop up some jalapeños (4) and put em in, along with some Cayenne pepper

Of course there are a million and one ways of doing things whether its beans or bacon!

All righty then! Now you've got me on the beans again. I guess when I do my Canadian bacon, I'd best throw on another pan of beans. BTW, you can freeze Dutch's baked beans and they come out fine when thawed.

I have to second the Dutch's wicked beans .. Since i found that recipe 6 months ago, i haven't done a smoke ( which is pretty much every weekend) without doing a batch or two !!! Love them

They are wonderful, and I do them, or some type of variation of them almost every smoke also!
I really like them cold as opposed to right off the pit!

I have to agree on Dutch's. They are wonderful. Whoever thought about putting pineapple in beans. I actualy add more pinneapple. Its amazing. Can't wait to try yours Trav. They sound great.

If you like heat in your Dutches Wicked Baked Beans, leave the seeds and membranes in all of the japs. Maybe even throw in a whole dried hab. I likes my beans on the hot side. :D
