Boring Pulled Pork But You Have to Check Out These Cool Pineapple "Bowls"
My niece had a Hawaiian themed birthday pool party for her 6 year old son this past Saturday and she asked me to bring pulled pork. So I did one for her party and one for me. I rubbed with a mix of MH and some apple rub. Smoked them with a mix of hickory and apple on the Chargriller Friday night during some bad storms and heavy rain. The Chargriller held temps pretty well...it was the first time I had used it uncovered in a downpour with strong winds.
This pick was taken when I first put them on the smoker and the sun was still out...a couple hours before the storms hit.
I pulled the pork Saturday morning, added back the juices after removing the fat and let it ride in a 150 degree oven for about an hour before the party.
Then I used one of my dutch ovens...I let it heat up and then put the PP in it, put the lid on, wrapped in a towel and then into a cooler for transport...about a 45 minute ride. And once there it was about 30 minutes before we ate...and the PP was still steaming juicy and hot! Not a good pic of it though...
But here's the cool part...my niece took pineapples, cut them in half, scrapped out the pineapple, and filled the bowl with other fruits. I just thought it was really neat and so pretty that I wanted to share.
And here's the birthday boy having fun on the pool deck.
Pork looks great!! Those pineapple bowls are really cool!!! and the young man looks like he had a great time too!! Now, I could see Rich wearing that after a few....
Looks like a great meal and fun party, the boy looks like he knows how to get down and party
Neat idea on the pineapple cups, specially since you would just toss the shells anyway so why not use them as a bowl/garnish
What was in the one in the second picture between the strawberries and blueberries on the left side of the pic?
