i've got one but it don't get any use since i just use a rib knife. i think it is the 827E 12". i consider it a light duty commercial with a 1/4 hp. it is designed for easy takedown for cleaning.

Without going out to look, can't remember if mine is a Berkel or general, I bought it used about 7 years ago and no idea how old it it. Been trouble free, 12", slice 1/64 to 5/8+. I would hate to be without.
        Don..

2 of me best buds ever! R.I.P guys

Own two of them 10" (model 825) and 12" (model 807). The 12" is going on GL because it's just not very portable. They are well built machines... made it Italy. They been around over 113 years.

Berkel Prosciutto Slicer (this amazes me)

How long a slice (or how wide can your slab of bacon be) can you cut with the 825? Looks pretty good in the pic.

I would buy one, I would check to verify that parts are still available for the particular model that you are looking at.

For some that makes a difference, but I would bet that there are a lots of "similar" slicers that parts will interchange.

Do you have a line on one already?

I measured the table end to blade and it will cut 9".

my slicer will cut 9 inch length too.
Apart from the turkey breast a couple of days ago I've never needed anything longer lol

Italian engineering is supposed to be excellent. In fact despite the fact that the italian economy is going down the crapper - the manufacturing and engineering industry is going really strong, which says a lot - saw a progaram about it a few weeks ago.
I have an italian orved vacpacker and wouldn't trade it for anything.

Did not know berkel were italian. I'll definitely keep an eye out for one when I'm looking for a commercial slicer now

I'd love one of those hand cranked jobs - that was amazing !
Never seen one that actually automatically advanced the meat for you before. Much better than a gravity feed.
