Bacon… Prices….. Did I miss something?

Just ran oot of bacon yesterday…. Need to re-stock. Checked on-line prices, Safeway, QFC, Fred Meyer, etc. WOW! Fred Meyer has 1 lb packages with card, digital coupon for $3.99 lb. Heading there tomorrow morning for my limit of 5 at that price. Sheesh. Maybe I’ll try to get 10?

No bacon shortage here… but crabmeat has become scarce around here, and is incredibly expensive! Hey, we’re on the east coast… crabs used to be plentiful!

Round here all the crab ends up in Asia. They pay premium for Dungenous crab, which is the tastiest.

Yup, that's a good price. I always buy bacon from the butcher counter because thicker slices and different flavors such as jalapeno. Got some green chili Applewood bacon today, $5.99#.

Didn't matter what flavor it was, all of it was $5.99#.

Put it on the grill for a chicken sandwich concoction I'm working on. If it works , I'll post the details later.

No kidding on that. There isn't really a shortage on crabs but the price of harvesting them is over the moon.

Places that used to serve "lump crab" cakes are scratching out the word "lump".

$15 to 20 for a 4 ounce crab cake these days....
