  • Beef from Mexico

Okay was at a save a lot food store, had ribeyes from Mexico for 4.99 a pound. They looked different. Almost pink in color vs red as US beef looks like. Almost the color of veal. I said okay I'll try it.

Cooked up like a chop but tasted like beef, but really didn't char normal. Kinda wierd. Have to say it tasted fine....

Thoughts? It was pretty lean for Ribeye. Diet make it this way??

I have not seen ANY meats here that were imported from South of the border.. Surprising they can sell it so cheap with the tariffs in place..

I have bought them before by accident (glasses not). Think grass fed beef, kinda tough, very lean, different flavor kinda. Not a fan.... even at $4.99lb. Just me.
I see them every once in a while, walk on by. I have stopped buying any meat at Save a Lot, there is always something off. Bones, weird cut, something.

There is some kinda Agg deal where they send beef up here to corn fatten. I think they just butcher the "rejects". Not sure of the details, but there is some exchange program....
But they come to the US live on the hoof.

I'm with ya Marcus, used to be in the field one day, in the freezer the next.

It actually had decent flavor. Kids and wife knew no difference... keep in mind teenage boys... they scarf down just about anything...
