I am looking at extending the smoke stack on my Char-Griller Smokin' Outlaw. Since the smoke (cook) chamber is the of the clamshell design (the entire top half of the smoke chamber hinges up), and the smoke stack is attached to the top of the chamber top, any extension will make opening the smoke chamber awkward, and off balance.
One solution would be to move the smoke stack to the bottom half of the smoke chamber, on the opposite end from the fire box. But, this would put the opening to the smoke stack below grate level. Is there a problem with having the opening to the smoke stack below grate level?
I do not (yet) have any baffle plates in the bottom of the smoke chamber. I am concerned that if I did, the baffle plates would direct the smoke/heat from the firebox, under the smoke chamber, and directly out the smoke stack.
Thoughts? Concerns? TIA.
