  • weber smoky joe mini builds?

I keep seeing these mini WSM smokers made from the weber smoky joe grill and ....(I guess).... a big ol soup pan with the bottom cut out....
These look wicked cool , but what are they used for? I mean , what exactly are the advantages of making one of these? i have heard some of the thought process (eg) smaller , more economical , easier to cook for 2 people.....

and these all make sense...... are a lot of folks on this forum making or using these ? i guess im just trying to convince myself that it'd be worthwhile to have one of these in addition to my WSM 18.5

Never seen one before...would be a fuel miser for sure...if you could actually keep temps from going too high...

I've been wanting to make one forever but you need the imusa brand tamale pot witch isn't aviable here and a cheap SJ. If I can get a cheap SJ might need to convince rich to go to Walmart and put my next order in the pot!

I use my mini wsm all of the time! Holds temp extremely steady for up to 7 hours without needing more fuel! You can use different diffusers to keep low temps or high temps for chicken. If you have questions about the build let me know. There Is also a section for the mini wsm build on www.tvwbb.com

My mini(smokey joe silver with imusa tamale pot and 3 cooking racks if needed. Also added two 18.5" wsm vents for additional temp contols. Flat alum stock for extended bottom damper handle. Two probe feed throughs for my et732. U-bolt added for lid hanger. Wsm temp gauge. Stainless pet dish with holes to keep ash blockage down over bottom vent)

              I read this recently.

Harry Soo has one. Going to cook his chicken on it @ the Jack next week
