OK, this is meant to be a serious thread and not one of those funny toast or ramen noodle threads.
I just wanted to show folks that yes, you can boil water in a dutch oven.
You'll need to light a chimney full of charcoal because you are going to need what I believe is called a "full bed of coals".
Put your water in the cold oven. You never ever want to add cold liquid to a hot dutch oven.

Sit your DO over the coals.

You want all or most of your heat from the bottom when boiling / simmering. But I went ahead and threw some on top thinking it would help speed things up. It was already 102 degrees...probably just could have sat the DO in the sun.

About 20 minutes later it was at a rapid boil so I threw my pasta in with a little oil, put the lid back on and didn't check it again for another 20 minutes.

Pasta done and still plenty of fuel left.

Chopped my veggies and mixed the pasta salad together in a zip lock bag.

Brush the ash off the lid

DO packed and ready for the trip home where it will get a good cleaning and oiling before next weekend.

Thanks for looking!
