I grow it from seed in the garden after soil has warmed.....I plant the packet and thin the seedlings..Usually one packet gives me 10-15 feet..I would think in a warm/lighted place it would grow fine in a deep pot...Maybe Move pot outdoors when weather warms.....Mine usually ends up 2-3 feet tall....Grows like a weed here... Mine goes to seed by september here if planted in late may...

really wanting to keep it indoors, so i can have it year round. I tried several herbs couple years ago........and as soon as I put em outdoors and they hit the great metal halide in the sky, they wilted and died.

Its pretty hearty here so if you kept some sprouting every few months, then going to seed like mine outdoors wouldnt be an issue indoors....See no reason warm soil and grow lights etc.wouldnt work...I have a grow room and have had good luck over the years indoor growing..

Sometime plants don't just like being set outside all at once. ( maybe/probobly) know this already, but there is the hardening off process. just give them an hour or so not in direct sun a day a get them used to the enviroment. And increase every day and more direct sunlight.

YEP....I take my indoor started plants for garden and set on tables in front of garden at expanding time intervals....the last week before peppers/tomatoes etc. go in they stay out all 24 hours...Very easy to fry a plant on a hot deck etc.if just thrown into the direct sunlight..

Steve you may want to look into Fernleaf Dill. It is more compact, growing only 18 to 24 inches tall.. Great for containers and indoors as well.. It is slow to bolt and is grown especially for its leaves rather than its seed... It is a unique dwarf that was developed for container culture...

                    Hope this helps..

Dude. Two things to consider about dill...First it has a very deep tap root that doesnt like to be disturbed. Transplants are not a good option in my experience. But with a large enough pot and enough light you can grow about anything indoors. Second dill has only one purpose in life and that is the creation of seeds. Period. Actually that is the purpose of most plants but dill just does it a little more quickly than most. Soooo...If you are wanting dill year round than planting successively is the only way to do it. Especially if the fresh dill leaves is your goal not the seed heads. If that is your desire than planting a pot thickly with seeds and cutting the plants before they seed seems like a good option to me...indoors or out...Good luck and let me know how it works for you.

And like Alex...I must stick to veggies only these days...

Hey Dude, I'm not that far from you. I had a boatload last year and I'm sure I will have just as much if not more this year. If you can't get yours to take off, maybe we can work something out. Some herbs for some herbs LOL.
