  • Pickled Jalapeno Peppers (Blue Ribbon Winner Texas State Fair)

Found this one on the net, cause I was stuck home with kid, he was playing next door & did not have all the ingredients to make bread & butter japs..... This recipe claims to have won a Blue ribbon at the Texas State Fair ....... Anyhow, I canned 4 pints of em today & supposed to wait 6 weeks to eat..... They be ready for Halloween, Thanksgiving & Christmas I figure.... Here's they are canned up

Here's the link to the recipe

If you guys did read the ingredients, what do you think? ..... Sounded pretty much like vinegar flavored Jalapenos to me ..... I thought I would try it, as it was a Blue ribbon winner and had a couple of 5* type reviews.... I dunno

From looking at the recipe they should have a slight vinegar taste.. Adding the 2 cups water should help reduce the acidity and allow the Bay Leaf flavors to come out..

Ate a jar a few days after making mine and you could still smell and taste the vinegar. Baked on a pizza, it went away. In an omelet, it went away. Haven't tried since so it might have changed. You try them out yet?

Oh and you do realize that the south brush their tooth with vinegar right? Could be the answer....

I made 8 1/2 pints of japs and 8 1/2 pints of hot banana Friday. They gotta sit a while, we'll see! I also made 2 pints of Bread N Butter (Hosers) mixed japs and naner. Might have to open one of them today!
