Hey, I have worked in the cattle feed industry for 34 f-ing years...Trust me when I say that a little poop on yer meat is the least of your worries...If you knew the things that they feed these critters...
I grind my own so may be a tad a head of the eight ball but...
Hamburgers from ground chuck were delicious. Just ground a hunk of lamb leg for a shepherds pie that was enjoyed by all. With enough seasoning and careful prep even sh_t taste good
we working @ about 60% of the time grinding our own...other times is lazy, go buy it...now let's not get into the pickle gig...been to Mt. Olive... (rats...big friggin rats...running all over the cukes & vats)...
But what do you do when the wife finds six 5 pound chubs of the Kroger 80/20 marked down to $2 per chub? Sell by date is tomorrow. Yes, that was $0.40 cents per pound. No shit she bought them all...... (well, based on this thread their might be some shit involved after all). I think some dude screwed up, but we got 30 pound of 80/20 for $12. Meat looks great for store ground/pre ground. Vacuum packed and waiting on future projects.
And considering the source of that shitty story (motherjones), I'm not going to worry too much.
Dave
I love coming home. My back porch smells just like a BBQ joint.....
