  • Thai Drunken Noodles with Shrimp

So there is this little Thai Restaurant in a strip mall near my house and they have some of the best Thai food I have ever had. They have a dish called Drunken Noodles and they are out of the world!

So I do some searching and find that this is a street food that is served outside bars to drunks... thus they are called Drunken Noodles. So after looking around I see there are many variations of this dish. I find one that looks like what I get and said lets give it a shot. It took me a while to hunt down all the ingredients but we found them after looking a bit. Here are the must haves.

Rice noodles ( wide if you can find them... I can not...used 1/2 pound)
    Soy Sauce (1/3 cup)
    Oyster Sauce (1/8 cup)
    Fish Sauce (1/8 cup)
Thai chilli pepper sauce (as mush as you like... I used about a teaspoon and a half)
    Garlic 4 cloves
    Eggs 2
    Basil 3/4 of the pack
    Molasses 1.5 tablespoons

Measurments are not exact anywhere.. they just poor in this and that... and being a weekend chef I went with it... the above measurements are just estimates.. I just kinda pour in...

then chop your favorite veggies.... again this is what you like... only thing that was constant was the onion in the variations I looked at.

For the protein tonight I used shrimps.

So heat wok... or in my case a big frying pan with oil. Crack two eggs and then scramble in the pan.

Add garlic, and cook till you smell it... and then add veggies.

Saute for a few minutes until tender.

Add cooked noodles to one side. (hot side cold side)

Let cook for a minute. then mix together.

    add fish sauce

add soy and molasses mixed together.

Add Chilli pepper sauce. again add as much as you want here.. this is were the heat will come from

    Add oyster sauce

    Add basil

Add shrimps and cook till pink.

Place in a bowl and enjoy!

Cook time for all above is like 6-8 minutes. It goes FAST so have your stuff ready and just dump in! This stuff is seriously addictive!! We just love it and it is really easy to make and SPOT on from what we get from the restaurant. If you can find Thai Basil that is best but sometimes you can not get it, just depending on what the store has at the time.. I was shocked how easy it really is to make it!! Thanks for viewing.

Yum! If you were feeling adventurous some day, you should go find an Asian grocery store, and check out all the cool stuff they have to offer!
