Ok, I know that tri tip is not your normal choice for stew. One of my favorite fall meals is a good hearty beef or venison stew. After cooking a tri tip earlier this week, I wasn't sure what I'd do with the leftovers. Couldn't help but wonder what the Tatonka Dust would taste like in a soup or stew. So.....
Used store bought beef broth for the liquid. Threw in onion, baby carrots, mushrooms, minced garlic, red potatoes and the leftover tri tip. That's my 6 qt DO. It was pretty full. Tossed it into the oven after the beer bread came out.

While chopping and dicing, I had a beer bread baking in the oven. This loaf had parmesan cheese and chives added. This is my favorite combo. Great just buttered, but makes an awesome grilled cheese sandwich with a tomato basil type smoked cheese. Brush the top with some butter so it isn't hard.

Since the meat wasn't floured and browned first, I made a roux. Got a little color to it.

When the veggies got good and tender, I tossed in some peas. Let them cook for a bit and then added roux until it got nice and thick. It was a little bland so I added more Tatonka Dust. Didn't measure, just tasted.

Time to eat! Man, was this good. Had another bowl last night. The rest is vac'd and in the freezer for a cold evening this winter.

Tatonka Dust makes a great seasoning in stew if you ask me. I'll definitely do it again, but with a cheaper cut of meat. Thanks for checking it out.
