  • Instant Pot Baby Back Ribs? 45-50 Minutes

Was skeptical, but had to give these a try. 45-50 minutes is all it took, and the results were actually pretty good. Fall off the bone (which is not what I actually prefer) but, for 45 minutes or so, they fit for the rib craving and limited cooking time. Removed the membrane from the back of the ribs. Slathered the rack with plain Yellow mustard, and seasoned liberally with Mod Hunky, which is my mod to Mad Hunky general purpose rub. (Thanks Rich). Into the Instant Pot with 1 cup water, 1/2 Cup ACV (I used Braggs) and 1/4 teaspoon liquid smoke. Put in the IP with the bottom rack in place to keep ribs out of the liquid.

COOK ON THE MEAT SETTING 25 MINUTES..... then a 10 minute natural release, then a quick release to finish removing pressureTransfer onto a foil lined baking sheet and shake on some more seasoning and your bbq sauce (I used Killer Hogs). 4-5 minutes under the broiler. Reapply a thin layer of bbq sauce, then another 2-3 minutes under the broiler. Rest about 5 minuets and serve. IMO, not as good as the smoked version, and the liquid smoke didn't seem to add much if anything, but still pretty good for 45 minute ribs. This was based on a recipe from iwashyoudry.com. Check it out if you want to give it a try.

Shiners all... well, it’s not like ya gotta turn them in.

Fish..I’m issuing a pass. But if ya want pulled pork..butts are cheaper.

I'm thinking 9 hours and 12 minutes @ 144.5 degrees in the SV would have the same results...

          but what do I know

What if you cut back the IP time to 30 minutes and finish on the grill?? You think that would get you what you are looking for??

That was my first thought too. then I came to my senses and remembered sauerkraut, potatoes and pork ribs in a pressure cooker at my aunts house on New Years day is still one of my favorite childhood meals.

But the water doesn't boil in the SV unit

My apologies Ken, I will correct that. The cooking time in the IP was for 25 minutes on the "meat/stew" setting. That is what my IP has anyway. Great idea on cooking in the IP, then finishing on the grill! I think that wood work oot really good

I did read a couple posts where folks cooked baby potatoes in the liquid after cooking ribs. Like 8 minutes? Might be worth a try

Was an interesting experiment, with pretty good results for the thyme involved. Not for everyone, butt some may give it a shot
