I cold smoke Kosher & Iodized salt...I start is from fire up to cool down, then get it in the morning. I do like the taste it adds to non smoked foods & veggies.

yes I agree with the both of these guys. It is simple and great on non-smoked foods.

One thing I HAVE noticed.. keep it tightly sealed. It will lose it's "smoke" if not. I use a glass "clamp lid" jar.

I usually do it at the same time I do a batch of cheese. Again, a cold smoke. As RT suggested, I use the mason jars and seal them with the foodsaver.

Other spices with smokey flavors you can use are ground Chipotle Chile powder and Smoked Spanish Paprika.

I have made some at home in the oven using liquid smoke etc. but I like this better than anything else I have tried. It is simple and easy to order off the internet. http://www.spiceislands.com/ProductL...e=7&KeepPage=7

For some reason I have yet to make smoked salt...

I guess it's due to me not liking salt that much on things.. I will cook with it but I do not salt anything at the table..

I thought WD did a step by step a long time ago in a forum far far away...
