  • Long stuffing Tube For LEM 606 Stuffer

Hey I am picking up an LEM 606 ( 5 lb stuffer ) for making snack stix. I am trying to locate a LONG 3/8 tube to buy as well for making snack stix ( cant get much collagen csg on the shorter tubes ). I am sure I have seen one somewhere before that was approx 10"-12" or so but everywhere I look online I am only seeing the 606a tube - or equivalent....( About 7" long) . Anyone know if a longer one does in fact exist for this sfuffer ? Tube is 1 9/16 " base. Thanks.

I got mine off Amazon, made by LEM... Don't think it's 10" long, but works great for collagen snack stick casings. Might check Amazon

I can make you a short tube that'll take the casing without unravelling - can't guarentee you'll be able to stuff anything down it though :-)

      Haven't tried myself yet

I think butcher packer has one for another brand stuffer. I thought LEM stopped selling them because folks were tearing up the stuffer's trying to use the small tube.

The mix has to be watery to get them to work. I just picked up one to try in my cabela stuffer, I will measure it.

Here's the one I got, used on a 5# Northern. No problems yet, and I have nylon gears.

I have been using the LEM 3/8" tube with my nylon geared Northern 5lb stuffer with no problems. I have not been making the mix watery either, just normal amounts of liquid (beer usually) as a carrier for the cure and spices for a more even mix.

I do wish the LEM tube was a little longer though. A full length of LEM casings will not fit on there and the 17mm casings will not slide on "as is" out of the package. The casings from a high mountain mix kit fit perfectly and are just the right length for the full tube to fit (and a 20 pound kit comes with 4 casing tubes so it's perfect for a 5 pound stuffer).

I found my LEM 3/8" tube at the local Bass Pro store. LEM did not show them in stock online, but as I browsed the Bass Pro food prep area, they had plenty of them on the rack.

I think the key to the stuffers with nylon gears is don't stuff too fast with smaller tubes, and be especially careful of bottoming out the stuffer plunger. I marked my threaded rod in the stuffer with a sharpie so I know when I'm close to the bottom and can slow down on the cranking pressure.

I love coming home. My back porch smells just like a BBQ joint.....
