  • A brief review of Royal Oak Chef's Select briquettes

I've been on the hunt for a decent briquette since Stubbs decided to change country of origin from Paraguay to the U.S. in 2012. It looks like I may have found it. A 40 lb. bag was $22.99 + tax shipped to the store. It's on sale now for $17.97 at your local Do it Best Hardware. Check your local store if you have one close by.

Royal Oak Briq on the left...Kingsford Blue Bag on the right. Stole the BB one from my neighbor. Doesn't look much different size wise in this shot, but wait there's more.
Here's the really big difference...much more girth in the Royal Oak briq. Ash was a bit more than RO lump but considerably less than BB. Heat was great...actually a bit more than other briqs I've used and seemed to last longer in between additions, and no "stink" when they're lighting off. Thanks for looking.

Never saw them around these parts, but I wish I did.
Lang 36 Patio, a few Webers, 2 Eggs, plenty of gadgets and a MES 40 Gen 2.5 electric for bacon and sausage.
My best asset however is the inspiration from the members on this forum.

I'm sure one of these should be able to do a ship to store for you.

Very informative, thank you for sharing. All I have used yet is lump coal. So when I use briquettes I will give these a try.
