Well the good news for some of us is their will be a new cooking network coming May 31st. If any of you that have The Fine Living Network it will change that morning to The Cooking Channel.. You can read more about it Here

It looks like something fresh... Shame I do not have that channel..

Sounds like a Throw Down to me...

Yeah, FN sux out loud anymore. Friggin cake challenges up the wazoo, and mega-reruns of shit they had on 6 years ago. WTF?! Their only saving grace is DDD and Alton, IMHO. Iron Chef is okay at times, butt that's getting old too.

They are getting stale... they need new blood and new ideas. I'm thinking more BBQ themed shows are in order, such as a program featuring REAL BBQ folks that show how to cook REAL BBQ... maybe call it, "BBQ America" or something simple like that. Or maybe a show featuring all us S-M forum folks, doing what we do best!

I'd kinda like a "seat of the pants" normal cooking thing. Yeah I.C. does something similar, but let's face it...how often are we challenged to come up with dinner using freakin' puffer fish or whatever?

Pork/Beef/Boid/Fish- and the basics of spicing/flavors/sides to compliment them...THAT'S what aspiring cooks need. How to spotlight the flavors and not bury them or destroy them. THEN onto Guatamalan iguana or whatever.

How bout a cooking show with a chef that looks like Linda Carter and be nekkid!!! call it" The Nekkid Chef". She could drink ,and cuss .and cook, and have her nekkid female friends over.Of course it don't have to be Linda Carter, just as long as it isn't somebody like the bearfoot contessa . Sorry Jamie Oliver

Dangit Ken I was just gonna suggest a cake making forum. I know what you mean, too many cake shows and to much flash on most all the rest of them shows. There are a couple cooks I still enjoy, but find myself flippin over to watch Andrew Zimmern down some grubs rather than a stupid lookin cakescraper.

That's what I'd like to see. The average joe cooking show. Can't stand most of the cooking shows. I don't know anyone who has half of the ingredients they use, nor could most of us afford them.

Love DDD, Alton is funny sometimes but we lost alot of good shows when the CRTC decided we needed more CDN content and lost a bunch of great shows.

Now if Bourdain was on there I'd be in like Flint.

Still a few I like such as Tyler Florance, Guys Big Bite, D3, and Best Thing I Ever Ate but I'm tired of the reality type shows. Hoping I get the new network but not sure.

I wouldnt get too excited about that new Food channels debut. It is being marketed as a younger, more hip version of the current FN.

I will watch a few shows on FN if I catch them: Iron Chef, Bobby Flays stuff, & Guy's shows. The rest I really have no use for(although giada is nice to look at)
Just because you welded some shit together doesnt make it a WSM.

Why not??? Just because they are targeting that demographic does not mean they wont have some good ideas...

possibly, but I am guessing there will just be alot more folks & shows describing food as "yummy, and yummo".

Plus the new network is owned/operated by Food Network I believe, & the apple typically does not fall to fat from the corporate tree.
