  • Oven Roasting Bag Instead Of Foiling?

The wife and I were grocery shopping last weekend and while she was picking up some Ziploc bags I noticed the oven roasting bags next to them. I checked the instructions for them and it said they can be used in a 400° oven or less. Well since most smoking is done in the 325°-375° range, I got to thinking, why not? I hate foiling with all the creasing, rolling, sealing, tears and leaks, so next time I do some ribs, I'm going to get me a big turkey roasting bag for the foiling time.
    Anyone ever try this?

Seen a guy use them for ribs... interesting pile of pulled pork he got with all the bones in it...

Sure..why not? Prolly better chemically than a bunch of acid marinade/mop in the foil too.
In God I trust- All others pay cash...

Sure they would work. Why not? Only thing you're doing with foil is to keep moisture in. Same principal with an oven bag. BUT, foil is a lot cheaper.

actually you can get those roastig bags in the pound stores. So pretty cheap.
Not sure if they'd be big enough, have to get some and see

I have used them alot instead of foiling bigger meats. They are tough and you can get 2-3 butts in one bag so it really isnt to bad on the cost
