Well, we had a couple of birthdays to celebrate last night, one of which was my oldest son. So, I asked him what he wanted. Steak and some mashed potatoes. So, I did some Tri-Tip steak which is different than a Tri-Tip roast. We get them both at CostCo and they are great. I think the 6 pack we got was only $5 a lb. I vac pack and freeze two per pack and we eat them as needed.
Anyway, it's very simple. I brush on a little olive oil and put on a homemade steak rub. You can do it right before you grill or earlier. I just happened to do it earlier since the games were on and I wanted to save a little time. Here is the rub recipe and the steaks right before grilling:
1 tsp ground black pepper
2 tsp ground cumin
1 Tbl paprika
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper, I used a home recipe
1 Tbl brown sugar
2 medium cloves of garlic, minced
1 Tbl kosher salt

I fired up the grill to 550° and the grill grates and got to grilling to 135° internal for two of us and 145°ish for the other two people:

and just going into the foil for a quick 10 minute rest. The Au Jus you get is excellent:

And then it's time for dinner. Sliced it up and that's all there is to it:

Thanks for looking.
