  • Butts and tri tips

Went to the local sams club to get some butts. Looking forward to trying the Pork n Pull. Guess what, not a single butt in the store. As I'm searching for something else to smoke on this rain day I stumbled across some little tri tip steaks. Never seen tri tip there before and walmart quit carrying them so I asked the butcher. He said they don't put out the whole ones because they just don't sell. So I had him go back and grab me a whole bag of them. Ended up with 7 tri tips. Had to go to Walmart to grab 2 butts also since that was my main plan. Vac sealed 5 of the tri tips for freezer. Injected butts with creole butter and seasoned with tatonka dust and JB's fatboy, and seasoned tri tips with tatonka dust and Oakridge Black ops.

Yeah ! That's how I get my tri-tips at my Sam's. Always available. It's a nice sneaky secret resource. We have them almost weekly.

Nothing short of fantastic. I have to jump through hoops to get them here, not to mention financing.
Lang 36 Patio, a few Webers, 2 Eggs, plenty of gadgets and a MES 40 Gen 2.5 electric for bacon and sausage.
My best asset however is the inspiration from the members on this forum.

Thanks!!! Just found out no concessions at softball tourney tomorrow so we will be having a team picnic. I volunteered to bring these 2 butts. Guess I won't have any to freeze this time. Panned at 160 to speed it up so I can get some sleep. The pork and pull will come in very handy on this late night. I plan to separate into smaller chunks, pulling out fat as needed by hand, then using mixer ro finish job

PP & TT looks great. Gonna be some happy tummys at the picnic.

The store I get Tri Tips is the same way. They slice them up and sell them as quick grilling meats. They said they don't sell good when put out whole, but if you ask they'll go in back and get them for you. I get one every once in a while. They're good, but they are just a good cut of roast and for the price they want for them around here, I can buy a steaks or a standing rib roasts on sale cheaper. JMHO-YMMV
