My wife told me she was making ribs in the crock pot so we had words.
She had bought the ingredients and had the plan, could not convince her to alter her course.
After loosely embracing the idea I intervened and started getting busy helping. I seasoned the CSR's with CBP, CRP, and a generous shaking of Pappy's. Instead of browning the ribs in the broiler I fired up a basket of lump with some apple and cherry until the Weber was HOT! I grilled the CSR's under direct heat for about 10 minutes per side until they looked and smelled beautiful.
Back inside we added these items to the crock pot.
1 chopped sweet onion
30 oz pinto beans drained
1 bottle hickory BBQ sauce
1 jar jalapeno jelly
Once it got hot we gave it a stir and added the ribs and set to high for 4 hours. Now even I gotta admit the house was smelling good at this point. We made a coleslaw, spooned the fat off the top of the ribs/beans, and started making plates. Overall the ribs were very tasty and fork tender. The beans were great as well, next time I would add another can or type of beans and there was a lot of liquid sauce on this one. Along with the creamy coolness of the slaw I humbly agreed
she was right.
Definitely one of the better crock pot recipes we have ever done and I would do this again if I was forced to cook with a crock pot.
