I have never used or seen on in action. What happens to the fat/grease? I know it's like an infrared type thing, right?

There is a catch pan on the bottom. I will put a tin foil pan inside that just to be sure its clean for the fat/grease

        or just tin foil

There is a hole in the bottom of the cooking chamber and a pan under it that catches the drippings. Cleans up in minutes. Yeah, cooks from infrared heat.

I have one of these hooks or what ever they are called. No need to use the basket then.

It was a small bird,12 lbs or so. Once the birds cool it is not much of a problem. Other than a bit of torn skin, most times they come out pretty easy.

First they made the "Big Easy" Oil-Less Infrared Turkey Fryer which will do a turkey up to 16 lbs.

Then they came out with the Big Easy Infrared Smoker, Roaster, and Grill (SRG) which will do a turkey up to 25 lbs. Has a smoker box, a grill, and a temperature control from 9,000 to 18,000 BTUs.

Both of these units use propane.

The third model is the Big Easy Electric Infrared Smoker which will do a turkey up to 16 lbs. Has 15 preset temperatures between 125º and 525º. It has a smoking box.

Having said all that ... I have owned the SRG for a while now and it's a cooking machine. Especially when it comes to poultry. I mostly use mine for chickens, turkey breasts, and the best baked potatoes you'll eat. For me, the SRG is not something I use frequently as a smoker and grill because I have other units that do the job. I also use the Bradley smoker and the MAK 2 Star wood pellet smoker-grill for everything else.

I chose the SRG mostly based on word of mouth recommendations from people on another forum who's opinions I value. If I were to make a recommendation I would recommend the SRG

                            Nice job on the cook.

I use the holder from my deep fryer. Easier to use and easy clean up.

Looks interesting. I gave my old turkey deep fryer to my daughter because of the cost of oil. She used to want deep fried turkey until she had to start buying the oil. Nothing like paying $10 for a turkey on sale during Thanksgiving and cooking it in $40 of oil that you cant save for very long.
