  • Chicken thigh kabobs covered with bacon paste

Didn't think I'd get to fire the weber up this weekend. Thought we might be at the big ten baseball tournament all day, but Nebraska kicked the crap out of Michigan this morning and put them in the championship game tomorrow. Anyways saw this recipe and wanted to try it.
In the food processor make into a paste
6 slices of chopped raw bacon
    2t sea salt
    1t white pepper
    1/2t garlic powder
    1/2t onion powder
    3T packed brown sugar
    3T Hungarian paprika

Chunked up 2 pounds of skinless chicken thighs and mixed in the paste. Skewered and then onto the grill.

With a couple minutes left coated with 1 cup BBQ sauce with 1/8 cup bourbon added.

Grilled up some asparagus that was brushed with brown sugar an evoo

This was a great meal definitely be doing it again. Thanks for looking!

Bacon paste, must be good! Need to start a lubrication program at work with that, no more boring 1409 oil in $800 barrel amounts. Wonder what that would be in bacon?

Thanks guys! Another recipe that can taste different every time you make it. I used a honey maple bacon from farmland. That was a good choice. I also used Rudy's clone BBQ sauce. It is messy to mix up but worth it.

Hmmm..I was no where NEAR the place to take that pict folks..just sayin'

Sounds like a straight sub of about 5 Tbsp of the GP rub would do just fine in this "paste" Love the idea!

would have been interested to see what it would have been like without the bbq sauce.

ie: did the bacon paste set, what did it taste like on it's own etc.

                      But for something new :-)
