  • D-man's Mahogany Sauce

Credit where due-most of ya know. Those who don't well, guess it's not much of a matter. It's just this is soo tasty I thought it deserved a spot.

    Mahogany Sauce:
    3 strips bacon, diced
    1/2 cup chopped onion
    3 cloves chopped garlic
    1 cup grape jam
    1/2 cup catsup
    2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup of your favorite whiskey

Sauté bacon and onion until onion is tender then add garlic and sauté for another minute. Drain bacon drippings from skillet. Add grape jam, catsup, vinegar and whiskey. Simmer for 10 to 15 minutes till thickened, stirring occasionally

    Rich,

that sauce is fantastic. and not just for pork. Tried it with shrimp once instead of the other red stuff people use with shrimp.

I've also tried this recipe with a pork loin and although it was a tad sweet, it had tons of flavor with lots of depth. I like the idea of trying this with shrimp. The flavors probably balance very well.
