If your going sweet, a cheap port would add some good complimentary notes im sure. Just dial back any other sugar or sweetener! If not that, a Berry laiden red. Don't ask me types, wine is yet another work in progress for me. I go to my usual liquor store and ask the owner to point me in the right direction after describing what I'm looking for :D

It contained a card box with about thirty of her family's recipes and a very nice letter that explained how her recipes could have made me a good cook. But how lack of them has made me a great cook. It was about the highest compliment that I have ever gotten. I have cooked for her and her family countless times, having forgotten about how badly I wanted those recipes. As it turns out, most of my clones are (by most accounts) as good or better than the originals. So, go ahead and experiment, make your own clone. You may surpass the one that you tried to copy.
That's awesome. It inspires me and give me hope.

I did a little searching with RR's link and liked these two.

            Blackberry BBQ Sauce
            • Prep Time: 20 mins
            • Total Time: 40 mins
            • Yield: 1.333333 cups
            About This Recipe
"Sunset Magazine had a barbecue contest a few years back and this sauce was the grand prize winner. Recipe has been adapted to use the stove top and not the microwave."
            Ingredients
            o 1 1/4 cups blackberries
            o 1/4 cup ketchup
            o 1/4 cup honey
o 1/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
            o 1/4 cup ginger, minced
            o 1 teaspoon pepper
o 1 -2 teaspoon hot sauce, to taste
            o salt, to taste
            Directions
            1. Put all ingredients in a blender and pulse until the berries are fully pureed.
            2. Pour into a a small sauce pan.
            3. Bring to a simmer then turn down the heat to low.
            4. Cook On low until the sauce is reduced by 1/3 be sure to stir occasionally.
            5. Serve with anything barbeque

            BBQ sauce:
            • 2-3 tablespoons fat, I used olive oil
            • 1 large yellow onion, diced
            • 2 cloves garlic, minced
            • 2-3 cups fresh blueberries
            • 2 cups tomato sauce
            • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
            • ½ cup maple syrup
            • ¼ cup coconut aminos or gluten-free soy sauce
            • 1 tablespoon bbq rub
            • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes, to taste
            • salt and pepper, to taste
            Instructions
            1. Let’s get this saucy sauce going. Melt the fat in large saucepan/skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and onion and cook until the onions become translucent, about 8-10 minutes.
            2. Add tomato sauce, blueberries, maple syrup, coconut aminos, bbq rub, and red pepper flakes; bring just to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer until sauce thickens slightly, about 20 minutes.
            3. Stir in the apple cider vinegar; and add salt and pepper to taste.

All the sauces were fairly standardized. The top recipe was repeated many times.

I do a raspberry sauce that I think would be easy to adapt. Here are the basics
One bottle raspberry vinaigrette +one cup each honey and ketchup (I think this is the base for someone's BBQ comp recipe).
