  • Weekend Sausage

Here is some sausage we did this weekend, it turned out great. This was not some that I stuffed but from Krizman's Sausage which is only a couple blocks away... For store bought sausage they can't be beaten...

The BBQ sausage has a fine texture and is the sausage sold to many area restaurants including Okalhoma Joes and Arthur Bryants, they also sell it to many of the competition teams around... If you are clost to the Kansas City area I would highly suggest trying some.

The apple wood smoke was the perfect match for this, not too strong and not to light...
My neighbor and our handyman loved it and it didn't take long to disappear...

Kansas City, Kansas - Krizman's House of Sausage has been producing ethnic sausages since 1939 and supplies a number of Kansas City restaurants, including Oklahoma Joe's Barbecue and Arthur Bryant's BBQ. Although Krizman's has a Croatian heritage, they also produce a number of other ethnic sausages and knockwurst. My personal favorite (and Krizman's best seller) is the smoked Polish sausage.

    Open Tuesday through Saturday. 424 North 6th Street - (913) 371-3185.

              Hey Paul,

I haven't had Krizman's...I will have to grab some to try...thanks for the heads up.

Another one in the KC Area (and I have eaten a boat load of this stuff) is Scimecas. Love their stuff, not to mention that they have it in the case at Restaurant Depot.

Scimeca's used to have a market on Independence Ave. a few years back and I would go there to get their sausage. The area got so bad that they closed the place about 10-15 years ago. I used to love their Italian Sausage.. After their grocery store closed I never knew where to find it.

There is a Polish market not too far a way from me that as good fresh sausages of all sorts. I have been meaning to take a trip there to get some to smoke.

I think this seals the deal, I'll be making that trip on my next days off.

Great looking smoke, thanks for sharing!
