  • People actually eat these.

I think Dan Aykroyd summed it up best in "The Great Outdoors."
"You know what the gourmet here wanted? Hotdogs! You know what they're made of, Chet? Huh? Lips and assholes!"

OK, I'm not watching this one! I like a hot dog once in awhile. Always heard they were made from eyes, ears, lips, snouts and udders. Hell, I was just getting over that.

LOL... them butts and lips sure are good right off the grill. If I boil them I add some vinager to the water. It seems to kill the processed meat taste.

That was a great video, being a former plant superintendant in the 70's I can't believe the machinery has come that far. We made tamales in those days and thought 40,000 a day was good.

            Thanks for sharing Tom.

interesting video Gunny!!! i guess when descriping the trimmings used they actually seem a lil better than what i had originally thought about them. so if nothing it was an image lifter provided. i will still continue making my own hot dogs and bologna, as well as other sausage. either way its why you do it yourself, you know exactly whats in there!

                        Isn't that disgusting?

I don't care for cheap hot dogs anyway. I like all beef, and then I'm picky about the brand. But I'll eat the lips and assholes dogs once in a while, if that's all that's being served.
I always wondered why those hot dogs split along a perfectly straight line when you cook them. Now I know why.

                          And it tastes better :-)

Great video though - I do love all the machines you get in factories.
On the other hand I worked in a mcvities cookie factor for about 6 years and I won't eat their cookies any more :-)
                          draw your own conclusions lol

                          take a look a this - it's hotdog mix.
Let's face it this is not ground meat it's animal fat and protein with loads of chemicals added.
You know everyone always says how hard it is to duplicate a commercial hotdog at home - well I reckon that's something we all should be damn proud off
I for one do not want to duplicate that stuff.
