Looking to get a new stuffer. Have been looking at the Tre Spade brand (made in Italy), either vertical and horizontal. Anybody know anything about these stuffers?

What I will say about the Tre-spade stuffer is that it is a VERY GOOD manual stuffer, and between it and a F.Dick they are the two top notch best stuffer's there are.
they are made about as strong as they can come, as for Vert. or Horz. that is just personal preference, I prefer the Vert as it takes up less room in your working area.
this is what you would see inside for gears....

Tre Spade stuffer
I have 3 stuffers: one Tre spade 5 pound (although I can put 6 lbs of meat in it) to develope recipes, one Tre spade 15 pound that is my main tool, and three years ago, I made the mistake of buying a 30 lbs Cabelas stuffer to use during the hunting season and to make big batches when busy. My two Tre spades have metal gears, metal shaft and leave little meat at the bottom when finished. The Cabelas is made of aluminum gears and the shaft is also made of aluminum. The gears look so fragile that I wouldn't even use the small spout on it for fear of breaking the gears or the shaft. It also leaves at least 1 1/2 pound of residu at the end. I haven't used the Cabelas for more than three or four times in the first month that I bought it and now I use it for decoration in the shop. It is so cheaply made that I wouldn't even sell it for fear loosing my reputation.
The point that I want to make is as far as sausage stuffers are conserned, don't buy cheap and check what material the gears and shaft are made of.Wisdom is intelligence shaped by experience.

Thanks for all the info .... I actually bought the Tre Spade 11 pounder. Best stuffer ever .... Solid construction, enamelled and stainless steel throughout. Double geared for faster re-loads and NO PLASTIC gears.
Works like a dream .... highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a good quality stufferRon
