    Carmelized Onion Dip

    Ingredients

    * 4 medium yellow onions
    * 4 T butter
    * 4 T canola oil
    * 1 t kosher salt
    * 1⁄2 t black pepper
    * 4 oz cream cheese
    * 1⁄2 c sour cream
    * 1⁄2 c good quality mayonnaise

    Instructions

    1. Cut the onions in half vertically. Slice the halves into thin half-rounds. You should have about 3 cups of onions.

    2. Heat the butter and canola oil in a large pan on medium heat. Add the onions, salt, and pepper and sauté for 10 minutes. Reduce heat and cook onions until they are browned and caramelized. Allow the onions to cool.

    3. Place the cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise in a food processor and pulse until smooth. Place mixture in a mixing bowl. Add the onions and mix well. Taste for seasonings.

    4. Serve at room temperature with a tray of fresh vegetables.

    That sounds good, David. I just bought 10 pounds of onions so I may give this a try.

        I have a similar recipe and I tell you what... Make this recipe and you will never again add a packet of dry lipton soup mix to sour cream again...

          Well I have not tried, I should say the wife hasn't. I am not a fan of onion dip. But I was sure there would be those here that are. You all enjoy yourself. And remember, there are folks around that don't care for the smell of onions, especially up close if ya catch me drift there.
