  • Homemade Hot Italian Giardinera

So for the Super Bowl I’m making Italian beef (Chicago Style) but with smoke from the pellet popper. But that another thread....

But the main condiment that goes on this Sammy is Giardinera. Let’s get at it...

Started chopping everything that is in the fresh produce department, except my fingers...here’s the list,
2 cups: carrots, celery, onion, cauliflower, green pepper
3cups: 2 jars of peperoncini peppers (reserve the juice).
    15oz. Spanish olives pimiento stuffed.
6 Serano pepper‘s (diced somewhat deseeded)
    2 bulbs of garlic
    4 tbsp oregano
    1 tbsp Italian seasoning
2 pinches of salt & CBP & Red chilli flakes or more...
    Evoo

    https://takeoutsponsored.kinja.com/r...era-1832444714

I kinda followed this recipe, I tasted it after a few hours stewing in the pickled brine and Evoo, it’s got some good heat, nothing over powering...

Pretty good, can’t wait to put it on a Italian Beef Sammy....

Next time I’m going to use my food chopper....

Is that basically an olive salad with peppers added? It looks like the stuff that goes on a muffuletta.

                That looks Great!

I made some of that some years ago and loved it. I also remember you don't throw it together in 5 minutes.

Yes it is oil based.. I’ve seen and ate just olives and peppers with evoo, that’s good on burgers.

This is a Chicago staple that goes good with Italian beef sammys. When I seen the price per/16oz.’s and I’m having 40 people over for the big game, I’ll make it myself. They say the longer it sits the better the flavor.
