Wow what a build cajun. Your brother is a true fabricator....the one thing I see that I would have him do...since he is your brother is to make the legs with no wheels adjustable. so that you can make the smoker out of level for fine tuning purposes.(not that you have to but it is one thing I will do on my line of smokers..but again what a build.

Thanks Ryan, Fish, Got...He has some plans for the wheelless legs. forget what he said. He has to add the drain valve, basket for the firebox, and some other small things. ready to season this sucker. He is also adding brackets so I can take out the racks and put in a wooden dowel to hang sausage...

Sounds good Alex. I'm sure we will be able to load this one up. Brisket and butt was all I could fit on my old one. I know he said he had $300.00 in steel in the build. I will find out what he is thinking about charging for one.

Thanks guys. Ok, bro and I need some advice on he firebox and the charcoal basket addition...any suggestions to what you think would work good or what to do? At what height should the grate placement be, at level of air intake, above, etc? Thanks

Here's some info for ya... I personally suggest the Stool Grate System. (great control and it's the way I did mine) just my two cents...

Even to slightly above air intake, and use some heavy stuff so it won't distort with the heat... or at least re-inforce the basket. Heavy duty expanded metal works well.

Since he has no problem fabbing, you can experiment with height easily enough with "legs" on the basket.
