I scored on this Hobart slicer today. Got it from the Su Chef where I work. He's had it in his garage for better than a year now without using it so he said he'd rather see it go to someone who would get some use from it.

1/4 horse motor and a 12" blade.

It was so dirty when I brought it home it looked like it had been sitting along side of a dirt road for a year. Wiped it clean and it started right up, no problem. The things that are a problem are some rust on the blade and that the slide arm and cut thickness adjustment are so dry that they work...barely. I am more than confident that they will be just fine with a bit of lubrication. Some of the blade's rust came off just by scrubbing with a rag and I am pretty sure I can get the majority of the rest off with some steel wool.
Anyone have some insight as to the rust removal and what type of lube I can use for the rest of the moving parts? The Su tells me that when he got it his father did a complete overhaul on it and that it was working perfect. Problem is that it sat in his garage, right on a dirt road for a year or more.
I'm close with this one, just have a few more steps to take.
