  • Tin Can Sealer

I found one at a second hand store when momma an I went outa town bout 3 weeks ago. I've seen these sell used fer upta $200 er more. Always wanted one, could never justify spendin that sorta money.

This one were in a box on the clearance shelf. Sign said upta 80% off. Asked the lady how much it were gonna be with the discount. Ya ready fer this.............................................. ..........$15.00! All the pieces be there and came with a few cans.

Cans er not real cheap an I be shoppin round fer a better price. They still be doable, just want the best price I can get. I do lots a cannin in mason jars an that includes vac sealin em to. Just sometimes a tin can would be best.

So here be a not so good pic, got a new camera an it an I haven't quite settled with each other yet.

This one will do the #2 an #3 cans. It didn't come with instructions, but a nice feller on ebay hooked me up with a copy a them. I did a trial run with a couple cans what came with it, neater en all get out!

Cool, I have never seen a hand version like that.

Is there a way to resuse cans? Our can opener takes off the whole lid at the seam.

One could store a lot of different things in them.....

There be a included attachment what allows you to reflange a can. Guessing a time er two before the can gets to short.

This one is a burpee brand. Back in the 30's an 40's they were more popular an many times was sold as a kit with a pressure canner.

              very nice score

I saw something similiar on ebay a few years back - but couldn't find a source of cans that would sell me less than 1'000 !

              So didn't buy it.
              Wish I had :-)

You could always stash money, ammo and bulk items like salt, sugar etc.

I guarantee I would have a stash of money in a green bean can..... if I had any......

My maternal grandfather had one in the 30's. My mother and her female siblings and cousins shelled peas (Black Eyes) that her male siblings and cousins picked. It was a family affair that sold those canned peas to what is now one of the largest best rated supermarkets in the USA. Publix. The founder, George Jenkins, bought the canned black eyed peas for his first store. No pressure caner involved. For the building it was a big shady oak tree in the yard and for the caner it was a 55 gallon drum over an open fire. My mother is now 93 and still vividly recalls my grandfather counting the turns of the hand crank each way during the sealing process. After the cook period in the boiling water the label was applied with some kind of marker they had back then with just my grandfather's handwriting. The picture posted here is the first time I've ever seen one. for the picture of some of my before unseen family history. We are in the market for a new pressure caner to go with the many dozens of mason jars we still have. If it is canned as food for our consumption we prefer glass. No tinny taste in glass. I'd like to have the tin can caner to make long term storage of seed and such a possibility. Even if nothing else I could put it in a shadow box frame and hang it on a kitchen wall for the memories.
