  • Review: Chef's Choice Slicer model 615

As promised in a previous thread, here is my review. I passed on the big Hobart I had a chance at for $185.00. I know it was a bargain, but I just don't really have a place for that giant beast. Anyway Santy Clause brought me this one for Christmas. I put it through its paces. I figured that my dried beef would be a great test. That thing is hard as a rock! It went through it like buttah. I bought a nice assortment of salamis at Costco and decided to slice them up. If they are sliced my wife will eat them, but if she has to slice them, not so much. Anyway, I really like the unit. The reviews on Amazon were almost all positive (329 reviews). If you are in the market for a slicer that won't break the bank and doesn't weigh 100+ pounds then I can recommend this one.

    The unit:

    Plastic catch tray:

    Thickness adjustment and on/off.

    Nice thin slices:

Takes it right down to the nub:

Sausage assortment sliced and labeled for Mrs. S's enjoyment:
A few of my favorite things:
    Good Whiskey
    Good Food
    Bad Girls

That looks good.. I got the LEM model this Christmas... Let me ask you this.. how fast does your blade spin?? I thought it would be going much fast than that mine is.. granted it went though 7 pounds of ham in no time but was just curious...

I need to find a big stick of pepperoni... costo.. did not even think of looking there...

You don't want a fast blade. I can't pull a number outta my..err..pocket.. but slower is good... less smearing/heating/ripping.

I just got what must be the little bro of that one from Mark R. Got it back together a few min ago. Got some pork loin jerky on my mind. We'll see how she does. But I CAN carry it with one hand :{)
