      Just came back from a short vacation in Canada and sort of read through the posts on this kinda fast. So at the risk of putting my foot in my mouth I will ask the following. I wonder if your basket has enough space between the bottom of the basket and the ash catcher or bottom of the barrel? If there is not enough space the ash chokes the fire. This is very true with Kingsford BLUE Bag. Also the blue bag does not burn as hot as the comp. or lump. I can tell you in my case it made a big difference. Hope it all works out. Bill

        i have about 4" from the grate to the bottom of the barrel ....and yea i notice that kingsford blue does produce alot of ash....i think the problem i had was the exhaust because i changed another lid with a 2.25" x 8" stack and i have not had any problems as of yet.....
