  • Cheap remote thermo

I finally got my hands on a tri tip and want to do it up right. Meaning that I would like to use a proper internal remote probe to insure that I pull it at the right time. I ordered a maverick yesterday but the tri tip is burning a hole in my fridge . I want to make it either tonight or tomorrow. I saw this at my local wal mart the other day.http://www.walmart.com/ip/Backyard-G...meter/19525225 it is pretty cheap. I only need it to transmit a few feet through glass. Any thoughts ?

I hear ya on that. I need something today or tomorrow is the thing. I have a thermafork and regular meat thermo. I was looking for a quick fix to keep the lid on until pull time.

        Just kiddin

Personally, I would save my money for a good piece of gear & use what you have for today or tomorrow. Lifting the lid to check your temps on a Tri Tip won't affect the final product IMO..... The cook should not take very long & you wanna pull it at the right temp that you want, so check away
