I have nylon gears in my Kitchener, never had a problem. I did grease them when i got it. Apparently, "bottoming them out" or putting undue pressure on them when the cylinder is empty can be hard on the nylon gears? Last year, about this time i think, Amazon had a 5# LEM with some other stuff (mixes, casings as i recall) for like $149 with free shipping. Might be worth a look?

If you wait sometimes cabelas and the other sporting goods stores have them on sale at Xmas, that's when I got my LEM

        Ouch... sorry man...

I love the Kitchener 15 pounder. $209...and I think free shipping. Nice size...for small or bigger batches.

Yep, Amazon changes prices frequently on things and when one drops you usually gotta be fairly quick to get it. Sorry you missed out bro. This thing ended up costing me the same as my kitchen aid attachment but I am sure it will work better and now I don't risk messing up the wife's KA!

I need to get my hands on a good deal for a stuffer now! If I find one over the next few weeks I'll post it up.
I rub it every chance I get!

Granted, all this is just in my head. Until I win the lotto, or my career as a stripper pays off, I'm forced to use the kitchen counter....

One thing I WILL say... the only real stainless parts on this unit are the tub and the base. The gear/piston support metal is chromed rolled steel. I DO have a little rust appearing on these pieces. Prolly just paint them eventually.

I got a Grizzly 5# stuffer a few years ago... works great! Here's a link

That's cheaper than when I bought mine!

Works out to 76.90 after shipping and looks like the same one I posted in the other thread! I might just get it. Any issues or things to be aware of with this unit?

No issues I've seen so far... It works like a champ! You will need to fasten it down to a work surface tho... I made a wooden base that bolts to the bottom of the unit, then I C-clamp the base to the counter top.

Thanks, I am going to wait a bit and see if one of the LEM retailers knock that one down. Don't see myself getting a chance to make any sausage before Christmas anyways....
